Few cities rally for social justice like Seattle. Now one of the leading voices for change in the city is running for mayor.
Nikkita Oliver is a poet, an attorney, a teaching artist, and an anti-racist organizer. She’s the recipient of the 2015 Seattle Office of Civil Rights Artist Human Rights Leader Award, was the 2014 Seattle Poetry Slam Grand Champion, and is now running a mayoral campaign with a brand new local party — the Peoples Party of Seattle.
Join The Evergrey in what promises to be a lively conversation with Nikkita, moderated by editor Mónica Guzmán. You’ll hear why Nikkita does what she does, what she’s learned from Seattle’s creative and politically progressive communities, and what she sees ahead for the city’s activists. How do the city’s social movements move forward in the age of Trump? What are the opportunities and potential traps?
